Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyone have Fibromyalgia?

Did it get worse after you had a baby? I have had it since I was about 15, but lately, it's really, REALLY bad. I have an appointment with a rheumatologist on Thursday, but I just took a Vicodin, because I'm in soooo much paiiiin! This, plus my TMJ is not getting any better...I wanna crawl in bed and not get up for a month. I couldn't sleep last night, the pain was so bad...Any tips? How do you deal?

Re: Anyone have Fibromyalgia?

  • It did not get worse for me after having Brooklyn. It seems to be better for me while pregnant (except at the end when everything hurts). I find relief from going to the Chiropractor or taking a relaxing bath. A friend of mine swears by Yoga. It has helped her a lot lately. I also have TMJ problems. I had surgery, went through PT and wore a guard at night. Nothing helped as much as the Chiropractor did. I highly recommend checking it out. Good luck!

  • Mine developed after DS was born and they think childbirth triggered it. I'm sure I don't have any tips that you haven't heard - heat, bath, Epsom salts, pain pills, rest, and make sure to move some every day because inactivity hurts too, or so they tell me. Good luck with the rheumy, hopefully you can figure out a new treatment that helps.

  • I have a chiropractor, but my insurance doesn't cover her...I still go, and she only charges $36 for an adjustment...I haven't been in for a while, but I think I will see if they have anything open tomorrow...

  • As for the TMJ pain, have you tried a thick nightguard?  By stretching the muscle and opening your jaw, it might help a little bit.

Yeah, but apparently my disc is special. It went the opposite way, and the mouthguard makes it worse...lucky me...Stick out tongue
