Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Before 8:00 a.m. I had 2 sponge cakes already cooling on my counter

Yeah....DS decided to wake up nice and early this morning.  It's 8:30 and he's already on his first nap. Sigh.

Me too.  Too bad I have to fill/assemble it and let it sit in the fridge for at least four hours before icing it and eating it. Boo.

  • I would have gone back to sleep with him! But sponge cake sounds good too!

Mmmm, with filling and icing, too?  Yum :)  I can never wait for the cake to cool before I frost it, which is why my frosting always looks like a 2 yr old did it!

  • It's a cassata cake (with rum syrup glaze, cannoli filling, and whipped frosting)!

Quite frankly, layer cakes freak me out because I'm not the best baker.  When the cakes actually turned out of the pans without falling apart, I almost did a cartwheel.

Aaaaaaand now DH is sleeping on the couch. They must both be preparing for our family trip to Target :P

Oh, that sounds so good.  I love cannolis, when I was pregnant I would beg dh to get them for me at Italian Kitchen...or Whole Foods, I wasn't that discriminating :)
