Giving LO BM or formula in a sippy

LO is not drinking a ton these days-I BF and /or only about 4-5 oz a bottle maybe 5 times a day (and that is a struggle).  He is happy with solid food.

He does like to drink out of a regular mug or kiddie cup.  Since he is only 8 months old it makes quite a mess and he might only get half of what I put in the mug/cup.

Can I put formula/BM in his sippy?  I know most pedis say to only put whole milk in the sippy but we are not close to moving LO to WCM.

I just want him to enjoy drinking his milk whether that is a bottle or sippy.

Thanks

Re: Giving LO BM or formula in a sippy

  • Andrew was drinking close to the same amount at eight months old. If your LO is doing well with solids, then I don't think you need to be too concerned.

But I don't see any problem with giving him formula/BM in a sippy if that's what you want to do.

  • at that age I only put water in it b/c of the mess issue.  it's more for practice so when they turn 1 and start drinking milk they sort of have the hang of it.  I personally wouldn't put any of that in there at this point, if he's still taking bottles in any way I would stick w/ that.

  • If he will take it from a sippy, I dont see any reason why you shouldnt do that.
  • We tried putting formula in the girls sippies at 10 months because they didnt' want bottles anymore and would drink very little.  The pedi said it didnt' matter how they got it.
