what causes OPK's to be false positives?

I'm only on CD 6 and just got a clear as day positive OPK test reading? WTH? Who ovulates on CD 6??? I sure hope this doesn't mean FET #2 is cancelled again grrrrrr.... I am on estrogen patches so could they be giving me false positives? I'm afraid to call the RE tomorrow because they told me not to use them but never said why. Guess this could be the reason because now I'm going crazy! Oh and I am also on lupron so there is no way I should ovulate while on lupron right?

    OPKs test for a LH surge.  Not sure if estrogen could make your LH surge or if it could make the test come up with a false positive.  Either way, I hope this doesn't cancel your cycle.

    i could never read regular ones- i thougt they were positive all the time- but when i got digital ones i realized i was just not reading them right - they can be tricky... so i only got digital after that.

    i hope it's not right!

    First, your paying money for this cycle and if you are unsure of something and they arent giving you the answers you need then you should call them---it doesnt matter what they think!  Ask them WHY you might have gotten a positive etc.  No, most people do not ovulate through lupron...

     Sorry for gettign so heated.  I just wanted to make sure they  are giving you all the details so you dont go any crazier!  :)

    most hormone surges can cause a false positive, but keep in mind that for an OPK, the test needs to be darker than control to be positive

    also,  this is an IVF cycle, I assume? If so, why are you using an OPK? I hope they are doing blood work and ultrasound for more accuracy!

    It's an FET cycle.  They put me on Estrogen patches and Lupron so I wouldn't ovulate.  The RE said 99% of people won't ovulate while on lupron and estrogen patches.  I don't go in until CD 21.  My luck I will be the 1% that does :( I know I should call I just feel like an idiot telling them I used OPK's when they told me not to :(.  Ugh I hate being IF!
