I feel like these are stupid questions, but I'm new to it all.... I just started supplementing some formula a couple weeks ago.
1. What are the rules in terms of using powdered formula once it's mixed with water? How long can it sit out? How long can it stay in the fridge? What if you feed it to LO and they don't finish? Can you use it for the next feeding, or do you need to throw it out?
2. How do you bring formula with you when you're on the go? Any tips or tricks? I am using Earth's Best, so I don't think they sell ready-made or single serving pouches.
Thank you for any advice you have!
Re: formula questions
1) You are supposed to use it with in 1 hour of mixing. That is how long it is good for "sitting out". If you would like to make it ahead you can keep it in the fridge for 24 hours. You are supposed to throw it away if they do not finish it in that 1 hour time window. I say supposed to but quite honestly I will save anything over an oz and give it to her at the next feeding....formula is not cheap.
2) I take one of those plastic "take and toss" bowls with a lid (I found them in the baby section with the sippy cups and food bowls) and put in a bunch of formula and an extra scoop (I save one from the last can when I open a new one). I pack that and bottles prefilled with water. When I am on the go all I have to do is scoop in the formula to the bottle and shake. Ky has always had room temp bottles with me so no heating necessary.
