I hope this all makes sense with my lack of sleep.
As GHM posted, Emily has had constipation issues for quite a while. The doctor's think she had a blockage which caused her pain and then vomiting. They had to do a CT last night but we couldn't keep the contrast in Emily (she was vomiting so much so quickly even on zofran). They ended up having to get the contrast in her rectally. Once they got the CT, lets just say, the contrast cleaned her out pretty good.
They finally gave her a different anti nausea med (reglan i think) at around 1230am. She got sick one more time after that and then the vomiting and diarrhea stopped. She has diarrhea again this morning, so they have not yet ruled out the possibility of a bug on top of the constipation issues. They originally decided it wasn't a bug since the zofran did not help.
They also decided to test her thyroid and for Celiac's. I thought Celiac's was mostly diarrhea, but they say it could be presenting differently (Dande! What do you think).
They are saying she can go home this afternoon as long as she tolerates food well. She ate a quarter of a pbj, half a banana and 2 popsicles. The most traumatic part of it all for her is the iv. It's hurting her, but we think it just might be discomfort and she's just overtired.
I do want to say to always follow your gut. I decided to call the nurse even though she was not bad at first. But because her pain had gone on for over an hour and she had the history of constipation, they suggested the ER. By the time I got off the phone with them, Emily was in more severe pain. When we got to the ER all hell broke loose before we could even get out of the van. They said the CT showed her very backed-up.
Thanks for all the t&p!

Celiac can definitely present as constipation. DD cycled through the two pretty often. But I bet you would have noticed other symptoms by now if it was celiac.
I'm glad she's feeling a bit better. (((hugs)))
ETA: I think I have info about celiac disease in my bio but I'm not sure the bios are working.
((hugs))
Sorry you are going through all of this!
