1 more flying question

For those who have flown w/ DC, I see that many of you gate checked your car seat and stroller but what did you do w/ the car seat base?  Did you check it at the ticket counter?

I don't want to lug mine w/ me especially since I have a layover and I'm flying alone w/ DD but I'm afraid of it getting lost if I check it at the ticket counter!

TIA

Re: 1 more flying question

  • I'll be flying on Friday. We are checking the car seat and base at the ticket counter and I'm carrying DS in the snuggli. Just crossing my fingers they don't lose it. :0)

  • Can you snap the seat into the base and gate check it together. We are flying in December and I am planning on getting travel bags for both the carseat and the stroller. I don't want them to get ripped or dirty.
  • we are flying tomorrow with DD's carseat and we are not taking the base. the car seat can be strapped in a car without it.
  • we are flying on friday and are not taking the car seat base.  Are you moving or just traveling?  It may be easier to leave the base at home to avoid the headache of installing it in another car properly.
  • I've flown without the base. It is easier to just strap it into the rental car w/o the base. I just gate checked the car seat. make sure to get a travel bag for it so it doesn't get dirty though.
  • I also have a travel bag to protect the seat.

I didn't even think of not bringing the base. I assume that it's totally safe..?

  • i did not take the base.

also, i just checked my carseat and carried my child in a sling.

  • it's perfectly safe without the base.
