Babies: 6 - 9 Months

what do you offer 1st?

When lo wakes up do you offer bottle or solids 1st? How soon after do you offer the other one.

  • It's my understanding that because milk is their primary source of nutrition, you should always give milk first.  We give DD her milk, then wait about an hour, then she gets oatmeal and/or fruit.

This. When she gets up she'll nurse off of me or get her bottle. We usually wait an hour and give her the solids. She loves the oatmeal blended with fruits Gerber foods. She's been sick recently but she ate 6oz of formula at 8a and at 930 she ate 2oz of milk @ 2(3.5oz) of the oatmeal/fruit blend Gerber stage 2 foods. :)

this.  I usually do fruits and cereal together about 1-2 hours later.

Bottles are every four oz after the first am bottle.

  • I usually nurse her in bed at about 6am and we both sleep until about 8...then we wake up and she gets an organic pancake or fruit & rice.

  • She usually is not interested in BF when she wakes up, so we do a breakfast of fruit, or fruit and oatmeal mix. I offer BM about 1/2 an hour or so after she's done.

  • We just switched to FF but kept the pattern the same: milk first, solids about an hour later.
  • This is what I do:

When she wakes up - 7oz bottle

    9:30 - 5oz bottle (1st), oatmeal + fruit

    12:30 - 5oz bottle (1st), vegetable + fruit

    4:00 - 7oz bottle

    6:00 - oatmeal + vegetable

    7:00 - 7oz bottle

She takes anywhere from 25-30oz a day.

  • Ky gets up around 7:30-8 AM and that is when we have breakfast together. She usually has fruit with oatmeal and a sippy cup with some water (that she mostly just plays with). About an hour and a half later she takes a four-five ounce bottle.
