Heartburn?

I guess I need to rant...I haven't been feeling very well for the past week and this is the first day I don't have a pounding headache or feel sick to my stomach...I feel "normal" haha. So I need to see if anyone else has the same problems as me with heartburn.

First off...what gives me heartburn? WATER...nothing else seems to bother me (except awhile back when I ate some Jax cheese puffs and I wanted to die...worst heartburn I have ever experienced in my life) except water...but, when I add in flavored drink mixes, doesn't bother me...

Does anyone else get the heartburn that I'd say, isn't really heartburn? Like a cool feeling in the back of your throat that hurts a little? I hate burping...I always have some acid come up when I get that feeling. I get this a lot at night...it's uncomfortable and nothing helps relieve it...I guess the good thing is it's not that horrible burning sensation where you want to rip your insides out just to get it to stop. I have found for me when I do start to get heartburn like that, I eat some popcorn and it goes away...none of the traditional methods work, sitting up, drinking water...make it worse, LOL.

I hate heartburn...

Re: Heartburn?

  • It sounds like a little bit of acid reflux.  I have that issue too.  I am not a doctor, but if I start to feel that way, I will eat a piece of bread or some crackers.  It will help to absorb the acid feeling in the back of your throat.  Pepcid AC also seems to help too.  My doctor has me on that twice a day now.

Hope this helps you some Smile

  • Sorry to hear that you have such horrible heartburn. I seem to get a combination of gas and heartburrn and I have yet to pin it on one particular food.  I have found that tums and gas-x seem to be my best bet but if I'm not where I have those items I try to get a glass of milk that seems to help.    The worst part for me is when the burps start and the acid comes up to the oint I almost puick. I gues we all have different things that help withthe systems.
  • I've heard some say water can make it worse :/

I've had a few episodes with this pregnancy. So far mine have been tied to italian food and yogurt.  I get the italian food - - but yogurt?!

Well I'm lactose intolerant so a glass of milk would make me sick...haha. I woke up from a nap once with a little puke (or maybe acid reflux...either way grossness) in the back of my throat, ugh!!

The only thing that has worked with heartburn in form of medicine (which I hate to take...) has been Mylanta...tums haven't worked. That's when I turn to popcorn and if that doesn't work then I go for the Mylanta in extreme cases.

There needs to be a book out there...the truth about pregnancy...all these books make it sound fun and awesome and an amazing time and yeah...no. I'm still waiting to have fun...haha.
