  • Beans and cheeses are also a good source of protein, but a protein shake can't hurt either.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • Eggs are a great source of protein. I'm a vegetarian and my staple breakfast is scrambled eggs (or egg beaters) with a slice of cheese on a english muffin.

I also used to mix a tablespoon of brewer's yeast in my oatmeal. It has a ton of protein, but I used it to help my millk supply while BFing.

Ditto to the cheese and beans, too.

After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

  • Are you pregnant? I would avoid supplements if you are. PP suggestions were good. I also do some "fake" meat products they have a lot of protein, but they also have a lot of soy so I try not to eat too many while pregnant. My favs are black bean veggie burgers, veggie bacon, hot dogs, and sausage. I will not eat the real ones so I actually think the fake ones taste better.

  • Love protein shakes. I have them a few times a week.

  • Greek Yogurt has lots of protein.  And I eat protein bars mid-morning (with whey protein, not soy).

  • It's much better for you to get your protein from your food than from a supplement.

Most people don't realize how much protein is in milk.  1 cup of Kashi go lean cereal (YUM and 10 grams of fibre and 13 grams of protein) with 1 cup of milk gives you 23 grams of protien.

I like to make prenut butter hot chocolate for a high protien snackafter a workout - 1 cup skim milk,  1tbsn cocoa, (I use stevia, but if preg, honey or maple syrup are a better choice) and 1 tbns natural PB.  YUM and about 12 gr protein

Ditto pp on the greek yogurt.  I love plain or vanilly yogurt with berries and 1/2c Kashi go lean.

  • i avoided protein shakes when i was pregnant. they have so much weird stuff in them. cheese is great because it's easy to take slices around as a snack. also yogurt, cottage cheese, and obviously any kind of meat--i ate a lot of steak when i was pregnant.

  • Lots of people already gave great suggestions.  Another one I will give to you is to buy the Barilla pasta in the yellow box (compare labels with anything you buy and buy the higher protein one).  This pasta is made out of chickpeas I believe so contains much higher protein.  It is ALL I buy in this house and it is tasty!  Eggs, cheese, high protein breads (again- compare labels), of course meat, beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.
