Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Am I worrying too much? DS isn't crawling

I think I am worrying for no reason, but everyone's son or daughter around me is either crawling/standing on his or her own. DS wants nothing to do with it! I put him down for tummy time and he just rolls over or cries. I put him in his bouncer to strengthen his legs and he cries to get out of there. Am I worrying for nothing? I guess I am guilty of comparing my DS to others (tisk tisk!)

Re: Am I worrying too much? DS isn't crawling

  • DD still doesn't crawl.  She has recently started this weird this where she'll pull herself across the floor, and she scoots around on her butt, but nothing that resembles crawling.  She also doesn't pull herself up or roll over.  Our pedi wasn't too worried at her 9 month appt, but he did recommend she get her gross motor skills evaluated anyway, just to be sure.  Ask your pedi about it at your DS's next appt.  I'm sure he'll pick it up soon.

  • crawling is a 10 month milestone.

  • DD will occasionally scoot backwards on her tummy, but nothing that resembles crawling yet.  She actually just started rolling from back to front.  I wouldn't worry about it.

This, exactly, except my DD has a penis, so he's really a DS.  He's 8 months old (FYI: cause my siggy says I'm still KU w/him).

  • DD isn't crawling yet either.  She will move around on her belly, but it is definitely not crawling.  She isn't pulling up yet either.  I wouldn't worry just yet.  It does seem like other babies DD's age are much more mobile than she is.  I figure she will do it when she's ready.

  • A lot of babies don't crawl or pull to stand until 10 months. If your DS is not even bearing weight on his legs when held in a standing position, I'd probably mention it to the pedi, but, if that's not the case, I wouldn't worry at all.

ETA: My DD does not crawl or pull to stand yet.

  • DD scoots backwards on her tummy and spends lots of time rolling side to side figuring out her hips but no crawling yet.
