Do you stop giving milk when DC has a mucousy cough?

I dont want to make the mucous worse, but if I stop milk every time he has a cold he could potentially lose a lot of calories. He loves milk so I would prefer to keep giving it to him.

Not for a cough or cold, no. Usually only if they're puking.

I limit milk when they are extra mucousy, I don't cut it out completely.

the milk/mucous thing is a myth, apparently. I don't give my kids more than a cup a day b/c I don't like them drinking calories. But when they are sick all bets are off.

I asked a nurse about this the other day. She told me it IS a myth. The fact is that because milk is white, it adds color to the mucous. Makes it LOOK thicker, but doesn't actually make it thicker.
