They called and said he had a low fever (99) and he was acting lethargic. Even during music class, the other kids were up and doing whatever it is they do during class. Nicholas was just sitting there like blah. So they thought it would be best for me to come get him.
I get there and his cheeks were a bit rosy. we're driving home and he was just sitting all blah in the car seat. I take him to Target so we can get Motrin and Tylenol (just in case). We're in Target and he's all Mr. Chatty.
We get home and he's fine. He's not warm, he's very peppy and acting like his normal toddler self. I'm thinking that he is teething (2 yr molars?), cause he had his fist in his mouth during the ride in the car.
Now DH thinks that we should wake up N earlier than we do on school days. He thinks the reason he was so blah/tired was because he had just woken up an hour before school started. So DH thinks he should get up an hour earlier and have more time to "wake up". DH said "well he seemed pretty tired when I got him up this morning". I said "That's because he sometimes sleeps another 30 minutes".
So opinions? would you wake up LO earlier and let them adjust to the morning? We don't rush. He wakes up, gets dressed and spends 30 minutes eating breakfast, and watching tv before we leave. This is the 1st day he seemed out of it at school.
Re: Had to pick up N from MDO today. and I need thoughts on something
TTC #1: IUI #2 = BFP , Betas 550 (16 dpiui), 1523 (18 dpiui)
Hypothyroid, LPD, FSH 13.0, TTC 2 yrs B4 BFP
TTC #2: FSH 23, AMA, IUI 1, 2, 3 = BFN, IVF #1 = MC
IVF #2 = BFP - Betas 194 (14dp2dt), 366 (16 dp2dt), 841 (18 dp2dt)
(vanished twin ~7 weeks)
Does he normally take a bit of time to wake up in the morning? Jacob is up and at-em from the moment he wakes. He could run a marathon. Other kids need some time to wake up.
I don't know that you need to wake him up early. I would just give it another school day or two to see if this was a one time thing or whether this is an on-going thing.
He could have just been having an off day. We all have them and then we get over it. Perhaps he was just feeling blah today (although I have no idea what toddlers have to feel blah about)!
DD gets tired at MDO, so we try and up her bedtime by an hour the day before. Otherwise, we keep the same schedule.
If you child is slow to wake up, you might try waking him up earlier and see if it helps.
MDO for us runs from 9:30 until 3. The kids in the little classroom sometimes get tired, as naptime is at 1:30. In that case, they have a volunteer grandma (from the church congregation) that just takes the LO aside for some quiet rocking or a little 30 minute nap.
ditto!!

Some mornings he seems raring to go and others he seems to need a little time to wake up. You're right he could have been just off. I'll see how he does the rest of the week/weekend.
Yeah I agree when I heard 99, I thought oh well that's not that bad can't he just stay it's only another 2 hours. But you're right, the fact that he was not acting himself it was a good idea to go get him.
I think regardless of whether your DH is right about why he was blah/tired, N is too young to change his sleep routine just so he's "ready" for "school." He's 2...it isn't school, it's daycare, and I think waking him up early is not fair to him. Not to mention, possibly setting expectations too high, at too young of an age.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!
I agree. I have no intention of changing his sleep routine. It seems to be working pretty well so far.
