Success after IF

Men are Wusses!

Our household has been struck with a nasty cold that's been going around.  It started with Stella and has moved its way to Hadley and Ben.  Luckily, I'm fighting it better than they have.  I don't feel well, but I'm still functioning.

Ben has been home sick the past 2 days.  This means I've been acting as the single parent.  I feel a little bad, but I ended up yelling at him to get out of bed and help me with the girls this morning.  I was trying to myself and them ready and out the door to daycare so I could get to work on time at 7am.  I barely made it yesterday and today the girls were coming undone.  He just laid in bed clearly hearing the chaos that was going on around him.

Why is it that men are such wusses when they are sick?  It's like they all of a sudden forget they are a parent and think they don't have to help out.  Mom's never get a break no matter how sick we are.  Drives me crazy!

Him being sick has once again made me realize how good I normally have it.  I give single mom's and mom's with DH's who travel a lot TONS of credit.  It's hard work doing it on your own!

  • Tell me about it.  I have been fighting a cold/cough for 2 weeks.  N was sick too and then we passed it along to DH.   DH acts like Typhoid Mary, like he is the only one in the world who gets a cold.   Oh boo hoo.  Take some meds and suck it up.  He had a cold last month (take some vitamins dude!) and when I got called into work for someone (I work "as needed") and told DH he would have to be with DS (DH was off anyway that day),DH said "Oh well I was just going to spend the day in bed napping".   Um I don't think so.   Sheesh!    Moms don't get sick days.

Men are like (in cave man talk) "Me Man!  Me Big and Strong, can lift a giant truck with one hand!" (achoooo) Man: (in a little girl voice) "I want my mommy I don't feel good"

  • Seriously though... I get it when they don't feel good, but I don't get to lay in bed all day when I don't feel good. I have to take care of my son. (and I am one of those moms with a husband that travels a ton).

  • Yes they are! And I totally agree with you about it being hard on your own. I honestly don't know how single mothers with no help do it.
