Water, because he doesn't drink formula so we don't have it, and I don't pump, so I don't have any BM to use. We mix his fruit purees with it though, because he won't eat it plain.
We use breast milk. We have always just used this to make her oatmeal. I never really though of using water. When I was growing up my mom made the cereal for my much younger siblings using formula so I never though anything different this is just how I was taught I guess.
I've been using BM, but I think I'm going to switch to water b/c my supply is slowing tanking and I'd rather not use it if I don't have to. If I FF, I'd probably either not feed cereal (I thought the only real benefit was iron and there's plenty of that in the formula) or I'd use water b/c formula is expensive!
I use water or prune juice. DS1 has constipation issues. I figure formula needs the water and oatmeal need the water. If you put all three together, one doesn't get the water it needs and DS1 will be crapping rabbit pellets. (That's my theory, anyway.) I do mix his purees with formual, so he's getting extra calories from that.
