Success after IF

Did/do IF meds scare you?

Ugh I've just been reading all the possible side effects on all the IF medications and all of the may cause cancer warnings and its scary and especially if you've had to do several medicated cycles.

  • No not really. According to some people, everything is going to kill you from your cell phone to the air we breathe. LOL!

  • Not really. It isn't ideal, but IF isn't ideal! I figure, even with multiple cycles, we are only on them for short periods of time. It isn't like it is 3 months of nonstop stims, you know?
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • I have been plugging my ovaries & ute with gonal, follistim, menopur, hcg, ovidrel, p4, estrogen, clomid, blah blah fricken blah for about 2 & 1/2 yrs now.  My ovaries are tired, they are pissed, and I am convinced they are vengeful.

And as soon as I'm done with the damn things, I'm getting my tubes cauderized to help prevent them from spitting out cancerous cells, and having a prophlactic oophorectomy soon there after. (I'm old anyways)

studies can't prove anything either way, the drugs are fairly new, and repeat use of them is widely under studied. I'm convinced I'm playing with fire.

    Meh. gimmme a baby, we'll talk. ;-)

  • Nope, obviously I'm willing to take them for myself as well as for someone else's baby.  :)  It's a calculated risk. Gotta die of something. Might as well make it a good cause, right?  lol

  • I was. My aunt died young of metastatic breast cancer and she did a couple rounds of IVF prior to getting sick. I can never be sure if there was any correlation, and I was definitely scared of the risk, but I only did one round of injectables.
