Maryland Babies

scared of a baby doll

We are expecting our 2nd in June and my now 16 month old son and I went to the library today for story time and it was all about babies.  The librarian had a baby doll out and I showed it to Connor and he was not only scared of it he didn't want anything to do with it.  I know that 4 months is a lot of growing and maturing time for a LO, but do you think it would be silly or over the top for me to buy a baby doll for him to give hugs to, burp ect...?  Anyone have any suggestions?  Looking for help! TIA

Re: scared of a baby doll

  • :hugs:   Do you have any friends with babies?  Personally, I think it would be better to get him around the "real deal" than to buy a baby doll if he is afraid of them.  And if you don't have any friends with babies then I would take him to story time at the library, etc. so you can point out babies there.

  • My cousin bought her son this doll when she was expecting #2.  Actually, her DS2 carries it around now.  :)  I think it is adorable.

  • I know my daughter is a lot older, she had no interest in baby when I was pregnant, but she is great with the baby. I'd just let it go and see what happens. Your son might be fine with the baby when #2 comes along. I wouldn't get a doll yet.
