Anyone pierced their daughter's ears? When did you do it, and how did they react? I'm sure they all cry, but what about after? How long does the pain last? Did they leave the earrings alone? My pediatrician does piercings in their office, and I'm considering it for my 7 1/2 month old.
Re: Ear piercing
I got Sophie's done at around 5 months old (it was either 4 or 5 months I can't remember to tell you the truth). She cried for about all of 5 min after they pierced her ears and then she was fine.
She doesn't play with them which surprises me however our pillows have yanked them out a couple of times (they have fringe on them) and that didn't bother her either.
If you do it, just make sure you have a bottle or boob ready for right after and a couple of her favorite toys, she'll be alright!
We got hers pierced at almost 3 months. She cried, but it wasn't even as bad as when she had her shots.
She forgot about them in minutes and never bothered them, we just cleaned them twice a day with the solution and never had a single problem. Did it at Claire's.
I cannot believe in this day and age that people will still get pierced with a gun! It absolutely blows my mind that people can be so completely irresponsible, especially when it comes to their child's health.
First off, I totally disagree with ear piercing for babies or young children but that's a whole other discussion that no-one wants to get into.
If you are going to pierce your daughter's (or son's) ears, please go to a professional. There are so many things that can go wrong with a gun including blunt force trauma and an increased risk of disease transmission. A piercing gun literally punches a blunt earring through the ear. The earring is usually of a poor quality, you should never use gold or silver in a fresh piercing. You should have at least stainless steel but titanium would be better.
