Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Anyone's LO not reaching for YOU?

My DS reaches for everything except people. He gets very excited when he wants to go to people. He jumps up and down and starts gooing, but does not reach out for anyone. I know every baby is different, but I was wondering when you LO's started reaching for people? Oh, he just turned 7 months. TIA!

  • I was just noticing this as well. . .So I am kind of "teaching" him to do it.  Whenever he wants out of his saucer/jumperoo/crib, I say "Up up!" and wait for him to put an arm up or reach.  I just started doing it, but I figure it can't hurt.

  • I just started to notice her reaching for me this week - 8 months.  It's still not consistent, though.

  • LO started leaning towards who she wanted around 6 months I think, but actually putting out her arms, not till like 3 weeks ago I want to say.  We were around a bunch of strange people at the time, and she was having a little stranger-danger, so she that really gave her a little extra "push" to start doing it.
  • My LO started doing it about a month ago, but it wasn't all the time.  Now she's 8 1/2 months old and she consistently does it.  Especially when I drop her off at the sitter's house.  It breaks my heart.

  • Mine started right at 7 months. It was cute for about 2 minutes until I had 2 babies with their arms out at me, pulling my pant legs, and whining all day!
