My husband and I are expecting our 1st child in August, so I've been doing some research on strollers/ travel systems trying to figure out what will work best for us. We live in South Philadelphia, so we need something that's good for going on walks through the city as well as the occasional trip to the mall. A friend of mine highly advised against ANY travel system, since they are on the heavy side. She suggested just a snap & go. But she lives in a posh suburb, and it seems most of her needs would be much different than mine.
Any one else live in the city & have a great stroller? We are also trying to be pretty cost conscious..so the higher end strollers are pretty much out of our reach. We're trying to stay under $300.
This is one I've looked at on BRU, and is high on my list at the moment :

For under $300, you cannot go wrong with the City Mini. You will have to go see this in person to get full effect (Buy Buy Baby in Cherry Hill has them - worth taking a ride). It is so easy to fold and is really easy to push with one hand on city streets. I have this with a Graco Snugride car seat. I have the adaptor that turns this into a travel system. It is so easy to click your car seat right on to this, The advantages of this stroller to a snap n go (I hated the snap n go) is that baby sits up so much higher in car seat and the ride is so much smoother. I actually have this and a Bugaboo Frog (hand me down gift) and I love both. The one thing the Bugaboo ($800 stroller) has on the City Mini is that you do not feel the bumps on the sidewalk at all. But the City Mini takes up less room in my living room and in my trunk.
Not sure the recent prices, but the City Mini was $229 and adaptor is another $59.00.
LOVE The snap and GO!
I would suggest getting a Snap and Go, and then when they grow out of the car seat, they are ready for an umbrella stroller.
My only caution about the City mini would be that if you plan on having kids close together, I would hold out on the pricey City Mini. Double strollers are expensive, so if you are going to have to buy one of those someday, just wait and get the pricier double stroller when the times come.
I had something similar and I loved it but .... the straps were not long enough in the car seat to accomodate DS after 6 months..... The stroller sides did not expand which meant after a certain size (I think 9 months) he could not sit back comfortably ..
I suggest reading reviews.
I DID enjoy it for the 1st six months but for the price I paid I should have been able to use it more then 6 months.
I paid $200 for my city mini, so far from pricey, in the grand scheme of strollers! also, there is apparently a sit and stand type of adapter either available or coming soon, to enable a toddler to stand on a board, with an infant in the seat. just FYI!
