I have always had really good teeth, not many cavities or other issues with them. It seems as though this last pregnancy really messed up my mouth. I think i might have a couple cavities and i have noticed that my gums seem to be receeding a little bit which is causing a couple of my teeth to have a mild quick pain (sensitivity) if touched by toothpick or fingernail or if certain toothpaste just sits on that tooth(area). It isnt bothered by hot and cold that i have really noticed. I have been going insane over it and putting off going to the dentist because im afraid they would say i need a root canal (which i cant not afford). I finally made an appt with the dentist and in the meantime have been doing some research on the internet about it. What i have read so far says that it is common for this to happen (in general) and caused by aggressive brushing (which i think i have a habit of doing). There are easy options to further prevent this problem with brushing gently, using a special mouthwash and paste. One thing i did find was using Bee Propolis has shown to help with the gums to grow back if it is a mild case. Anyone heard of this Bee Propolis stuff???? Anyone else having these same issues? If so what actions did you take to better your mouth/teeth/gums?
Re: did pregnancy really mess with your teeth/gums???
YES! I've never had even a cavity - ever and have always been told I've had great teeth. Just two weeks ago I went for my regular 6 mo check and was told I needed a crown - WHAT?!? The dentist had no explanation other than pregnancy. I was so upset. I'm over it now, but I couldn't believe it.
Rubia... are we the same effing person???? I have severe dentist anxiety (partially cause I can't pay for it, and partially cause I haven't been in so long) also. My teeth thankfully didn't get any worse with pregnancy, though.
We had some similarites in chatzy the other night also, soo you are my long lost sister, clearly.
Haha we must be! I always wanted a sister. And I am a gemini, so you may just be my twin :oP I'll take it! Plus that means I get another gorgeous nephew, sounds good to me
I definitely think mine did get worse. I'm so afraid to find out though. I loved my old dentist. He would numb up all problem areas and give me gas and he would clean my teeth that way instead of the hygenist. I'd still have heart throbbing anxiety in the chair but the gas would help haha. He knew my bad areas, and he listened. Plus my aunt works there as an assistant so it was the best scenario for me aside from sedation dentistry which I'm pretty darn sure insurance doesnt' cover haha.
