I don't know how you ladies witha larger chest normally deal with it but I won't ever wish for a larger chest ever again! My boobs definitely increased in size during this pregnancy...I went from a 34B to a 36C. I just bought a nursing bra to have one handy and plan on buying more after I deliver figuring the size may change. I've already been wearing my nursing bra because it's comfy and is 1 of 3 bras that fit me now. Over the past week my chest has grown again. I feel like I am popping out of this bra now that fit perfectly a week ago...I didn't think my boobs would grow more until i started nursing...anyone else having this issue. Anyone have any good recs for nursing bras that lift as well...now they are larger they aren't as 'perky' anymore either! Boo!!!
Re: I hate boobs!
I loved the Bravado ones I got at the hospital in the Parent Connections store. My mom got me the first one, which was a sports bra style. It cost $40 but the comfort for sleeping was WELL worth it. (This was after delivery)
After my milk came in I went to Nordstrom's and got measured. They don't have the nursing bras out in the main lingerie area. You have to ask at the desk. You don't have to buy anything there in order to have them measure you!
The last weeks of pregnancy is when everything just gets bigger! I went over w/ both of my babies and I swear the worst if when you see that scale still climbing after your EDD has past!
I have gotten some good nursing bras @ Target. They have a variety styles. I would stay away from underwire- at least for the first couple months because it can contribute to clogged ducts, which can lead to mastitis, which hurts and is really annoying! Also your boobs will get bigger when you milk comes in, but then they go back down after a while, when your milk production becomes regulated- but that can take a month or so.
Personally the first 6 weeks or so I basically live in nursing tanks w/ tank tops and hoodies/cardigans over top, because you nurse so much during the newborn phase and it's much easier access. Also I find it easier to nurse discreetly in public in a nursing tank w/ a cardigan style sweater or top over the tank, than wearing a regular shirt and using a cover.
haha! I'm only 3 months in and my boobs have gone up a cup size and a half already and are sore as all heck. I'm with you, I'll never wish for bigger tatas again after this!
although...I'm in a wedding 1 month after delivery and I'm thinking the largeness of my chest might take attention away from lingering baby fat....

My Blog: Decorate This
online Target offers both full sling and side sling nursing tanks in a lot more colors than they do in store. The full sling is more supportive and I guess modest than the side sling, but I find the side sling more comfortable for the most part.
Bravado nursing tanks are side sling.
Glamourmom nursing tanks are full sling. I think the Glamourmom ones are the nicest looking, but they shrink like crazy (I have one that is like a half shirt- ugh!) you can't put them in the dryer.
I have a maternity shirt that I can no longer wear because my boobs won't squeeze into it (and I wore it till 34 weeks with Aiden!)
I loved the nursing bras from Target. I think I'm going to dig mine out now and start wearing them!

I went from a 34B to a 38D. when my milk came in I had no idea how big I was, but I was huge. Finally I ended up being a 34C after nursing was done.
With #2, I really didn't change that much at all, so if you have another child, you probably won't get bigger again.
My boobs really did not grow that much until the last months of my pregnancy and then definitely more after the milk came in.
At first I made the mistake of buying some underwire bras that were OK before I was nursing, but really uncomfortable afterward.
So when I rented my breast pump from a LC, she measured me and recommended some Medela bras that would suit me better. I bought their two sleep bras -- really comfortable and not that expensive -- one Comfort Nursing bra and one Seamless Softcup Nursing bra, the latter two look great and provide a lot of support. I might wear them even after I am done breastfeeding.
Because I am pumping a lot, I also got the hands-free bra, which I never thought I would, and find it very practical.
Add me to the list of Bravado lovers! I also recommend the spanks bra (without underwires). It is not a nursing bra per se but is easily lifted and the straps are SOO comfortable. Last week at my new mom support group someone mentioned a bra boutique near Annapolis that has an assortment of nursing bras and will do a custom fitting. Someone already mentioned Special Beginnings' boutique. Good luck!
