Only 50% Effaced at 39w6days.

My due date is tomorrow and I'm only 50% effaced...no change from last week.I keep reading about all of you that are 2-5cm by now and I feel like I'm never going to go into labor!  My doctor won't let me go past 41 weeks so I only have 8 days left.  Can anyone give me some hope that I will still go into labor on my own this week?

My husband and I have started operation get baby out, but so far-nothing.

GL with "operation get baby out" - I think DH and I are about to embark on the same operation....

Well...I know it's disappointing to not be dilating or effacing as much as you would like to but I have also read plenty of stories of women going into labor like that.

And then there's me. I feel like a freak. I have been over 5cm/80% for 1.5 weeks now and am still not in labor, and I am 41 weeks today...my OB will let me go one more week but not a day more.

If there's one thing I've learned through being pregnant, it's that there is no "normal" pregnancy and no two stories are alike.  Everyone's body seems to handle this process very differently and those who seem to not be making much progress can all of a sudden make quick progress.  Don't compare yourselfs to other, don't get discouraged, it's going to happen one way or another!

I have not had an internal yet this pg-  but looking at last pg with my son-  at 38.5 weeks I was 0cm and 50% effaced, at 39.5 weeks they told me I was 1cm but 0% effaced (ummm what? I guess it all depends on who does the exam).

My water broke at 40w4d and I had my son within 2 hrs of getting to the hospital!!!  It can happen and happen fast-  don't get too caught up in the #s

My OB told me at my appointment Monday that they would rather see a low head down baby than anything. She said that really dilation and effacement mean next to nothing to them, especially before 4/5 cm. She said she has seen women dilate from closed up tight to 10 cm within a few hours (I think she said 3?). So try not to worry too much (says the hypocrite that was biitching about only being dilated to 1cm).
