Sitting Up on his own

I think I am the only one with a 6 month old who is no where near sitting up on his own.  I have been working with him every day for about 2 months.  He just has no interest.  He does ok in the Bumbo but on his own and does a face plant.  Any suggestions on ways I can help this progress?

I think my DD is close to the age of your DS & she also seems to have no interest. She hates the bumbo. On her own she just topples over. I guess they'll do it when they're ready.?

i'm reading a book right now on the RIE approach to parenting which says basically to let it happen on its own. don't try to "teach" him how to sit up, let him discover it himself. probably not the advice you're looking for, but it gave me a new perspective.

My DS just started sitting up on his own a couple days ago.  Up until the day he did it he showed no interest.  He would fuss in the Bebe Pod and he wouldn't even stay proped up on the couch, he would topple over.  But all I did with him was just practice everyday.  It was frustrating too because he would just fall over or fuss.  And then it just clicked and he did it.  He still falls over after awhile but he sits up for a couple minutes at a time.  I am shocked that it clicked so quickly after a month or so of practicing.

We're not there yet, either. She lasts maybe 20 seconds before faling to her side. She gets mad at sitting right now, always wants to stand!

I think you just need to let him take the lead, give him opportunities to practice, but like walking and talking, he will do it when he's good and ready.

My DS is not as old yet, but the pedi told us Friday not to be surprised if he did not sit and went straight to standing. ?For some kids they just skip over stuff. ?My first DS did not crawl
