I knew this was coming....

Dr. said to watch my weight gain. I've had a horrible sweet tooth this pregnancy. I'm not buying any more sweets to keep in this house. Too bad girl scout cookies were ordered. I'm going to make DH keep them at work. Why can't I be like my sister and friend who's dr.s told them they need to gain weight!?!?!

  • I, personally, take things like that lightly. My OBs always said that your body will gain what it needs to in pregnancy. I know that everyone is different. I ate from start to finish. Everything i could find! Gained quite a bit of weight...they never, ever made a comment about my weight and in the end....they were right. I gained 43#, lost 50. (joked i had a big baby from eating all those cheeseburgers! he was 8.10)

Now you may be more aware of what you are eating.
There could be worse things, right?

    GL!

I was underweight by 10#s before I got pregnant so I chalk it up to that. I am going to lay off the carbs and sweets though. It will be hard. I just need to get healthier snack options in the house.

I was under weight before my first pregnancy and gained 50 pounds that time and never once did the OB say anything. I eventually lost almost all (like I said, I could've stood to have an extra 10-15lbs before) and so far I've lost 4 pounds with this pregnancy...but knowing my body i'm sure once i get over this initial yuck, I'm going to be a gaining machine. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. GL!

  • Ugh, I know what you mean...I have 5 boxes of girl scout cookies on my desk as we speak...I have had thyroid issues, so my weight was already higher than normal. I have a feeling my doc is gonna tell me to watch my weight as well...I'm an eating machine lately - especially since it's helped keep the nausea/vomiting away.
  • Meh.  You know your body, if you feel you are overdoing it, then you know to cut back.  But as long as you're not eating 10lbs of chocolate and crap food a day, what's the big deal?  Obviously you want to eat a little healthier for the baby, but don't stress out over a few pounds.

With the twins, I gained some weight.  Oh did I!  But not once did my OB say anything either.   I think some OBs are just a little more anal about weight than others.
