How old for "My Girl?"

I haven't seen it in probably 15 years, but I seem to recall "My Girl" as being one of the saddest movies I've ever seen. Am I remembering it correctly and if so it's not really a movie for younger kids, right? How old for something that emotional?

Definitely for older kids. There's a scene where they show the boy in his coffin -- I remember bawling.
