NCDR-Milk?

When is it ok to start introducing whole milk to DS? I hear a lot of people start adding a little bit to their formula around 11 months. I haven't done it yet, but he will be a year on the 25th so I was just curious.

Re: NCDR-Milk?

  • We started giving it to DD when she was about 11 months old. Mostly it was just between bottles, with her solids, and just a little bit...like an inch or so in a kiddie cup (not sure how many ounces that is, lol). We also would give it to her when we went to a restaurant so she'd have something to drink.

  • from what I've researched and what my pedi told me, its not that they can't have milk before 1 year - its just that they fear milk replacing formula/breastmilk so they make a big deal about not giving it before then.  I've given DS some milk in his oatmeal or to smooth out some food if I don't have any breastmilk pumped.

  • We're discussing it with DD's doctor at her 12-month appointment.
