Infertility

And the winner is...a laparoscopy

The nurse called and the doctor recommended a lap.  My estrogen was lower than last week, but I guess since the cyst has been there so long through birth control pills and lupron and got bigger, not smaller, it needs to come out.  There was an issue with aspirating because of clots he thought he saw in it.  I'm ok with this, just a little (ok, maybe a lot) nervous/scared.  I will be asking many questions I'm sure.  I think this is a sign because we went back and forth over doing a lap before IVF #2 to see if it would shed some light on our issues and maybe diagnose endo.  We decided against it but now here we are kind of forced to do it, so I guess it was meant to be.

I'm supposed to call when I start my period and they will schedule it, but the nurse said she was penciling me in for Feb 24 as that is when they anticipate I should be ready.  At least it's relatively soon, but again, I'm going to be waiting waiting waiting.  IF = spending your life waiting for the next period/cycle/appt/ultrasound

I already have a glass of wine poured.  It's delicious.

  • I'm sorry.  But really the lap isn't anything to worry much about.  It wasn't bad with a fairly easy recovery.  Let me know if you have any specific questions about it, there are a good number of us who have had them!

  • I am sorry sweetie but it may be a blessing in disguise. I had my lap due to a large cyst as well. The surgery is really not bad at all and if they can clean some stuff up and look around in there to see all is well, then wonderful. Enjoy your wine!!

  • I'm sorry sweetie, surgery is always scary.

For what it is worth though, I found the lap the most "enjoyable" of the tests.  Only because it was surgery so I had to book a whole week off work, but when I left the hospital I barely had a cramp.  I truly felt fine in a few days so I spent a lot of quality time with my feet up and watching sappy movies while eating soup and stew my mom kept bringing over.  I sort of have fond memories of that time because I was relaxing while feeling pretty good.

I hope you have the same experience!!!!  Good luck!

ETA - also, they give you the really great drugs!!!!!  G was totally jealous!!!  :)

  • oh hon I am so sorry.  I must have been in the dark with your cycle.  I had no idea all of this was going on.  I think you have a great attitude about this and maybe it was meant to be for you to get a lap done.  Who knows maybe they will be able to know more by doing this and it will help you in the long run.

    Best of luck to you!
