DD has what appears to be dandruff out of nowhere. I've read up and it fits the description of cradle cap. I thought that was only in newborns. Anyone else with this? I tried the olive oil treatment that was suggested many places. No dice.
I've stopped worrying about it. Luckily for us, it's hard to see because DD's hair is the same color as the scalp. It doesn't bother her either, so I figure she'll grow out of it. We've done what we can.
Are you just doing olive oil, or are you using a toothbrush too? This worked well for us, but I still have to do it about once a week.

My DD had it . It never got really bad but vaseline worked really well for us . You just have to really put a lot of it on there and let it sit for a while . Then just take a comb and comb it out . My pedi also told us that we could use selsun blue on it once a week .

DS is 7 months old and still has it. Poor guy scratches his head because of it. We use the baby oil and then gently rub the brush on it and it removes a lot of it. It has gotten better, but it still annoys him.
DD1 had cradle cap beginning closer to 10 months and it was gone at around a year. I took a soft bristle baby brush to her head every day. It finally started getting smaller until it was gone.
Maybe I need to do the baby brush more often. I did use it after the olive oil, but it didn't get it all. I guess I was hoping for a one time fix, but it sounds like it will take more than that. Thanks ladies!
I used Nuetrogena bath oil on Marlee's head. It seems to be quite oily but the scalp isn't dry anymore. She had it at 8 weeks and a few weeks ago at 6.5 months. Dry, cold weather, maybe?
DS has it so bad we ended up getting a prescription from the ped for selenium sulfite- we put it on his head, let it sit while we finish bathing him and rinse it off. It does work for the most part but still have flakes and he itches it, it sucks!

THIS! DD is always scratching at her head. Poor thing =/ Hers has recently gotten worse too.
Re: Cradle cap at nearly 8 months?
DS has some cradle cap right on top of his soft spot and has had it since he was only a few weeks old!
ETA: You can't see it at ALL unless you pull his hair up and get a good look at it and I JUST realized he still had it last week.
We're in the same boat.

Same here - I blame the weather.
