In-between Naps Length ?

What is the length of time between the first and second nap for LO? DS is ready for a nap 2 hours after waking from night sleep.  It seems like he can go longer in between the first and second nap though.  Still trying to get more than 45 mins for the PM nap blah.

Re: In-between Naps Length ?

  • My DD is down to 2 naps a day.

She wakes up in the morning then 2 hours later goes down for her  morning nap.  After her morning nap she will be awake 3-3.5 hours before taking her afternoon nap.  Then she's up a good 4 - 5 hours before bed time.  I've tried giving her a late afternoon nap but she wont go down.  She's not cranky so I'm okay with it.

  • Between naps DD can go anywhere from 2-5 hours.

She has 2-3 naps a day ranging anywhere from 10 mins to 1 hour.

Can I assume you don't have much of a "routine" then either??  I wish he would get on a more predictable pattern soon--it's so hard to schedule anything outside of the house when I have no clue what's going on with daytime sleep!!

  • My DS goes anywhere from 2-3 hours between naps and then about 3-4 hours from late afternoon nap till bedtime.  He sleeps though anywhere from 30 mins to an hour and a half just depending on how tired he is.

We have finally gotten on somewhat of a nap schedule since DS has finally started getting up in the mornings at the same time everyday.

  • My DD is 6 months on Thurs and she goes 2-2.5 hours between naps.  Naps are either 30 mins or 1 hour, nowhere in between!

We don't have much of a routine. After DD wakes up in the morning, which is not consistent, she is usually up for 1.5 to 2 hours before her first nap. Then it is probably most often about 2 hours between that and nap #2 and between #2 and #3. Sometimes there is a #4, but after about 4 p.m., she will not nap, so sometimes she's up for 3 to 4 hours before bedtime.

But (maybe because there's no set schedule) she doesn't usually get too cranky if we are out and about instead of home where she can nap in her crib, especially after nap #1. So I don't try to plan around it. She sleeps in the car on the way to and from things, and we come home if she gets really cranky. Today she slept for almost an hour in the car seat even once we were home, woke up and ate, and then went back to sleep for an hour in her crib.
