Mucous in baby's stool

My son is 8 1/2 months old (primarily BF), and about 3 weeks ago he started having mucous in his stool. He doesn't seem to have any other symptoms and nothing in his diet or my diet has changed that I can think of. I called the pediatrician a week ago and they suggested giving his a probiotic, but it has not seemed to have made a difference. I called again today, and they did not seem to think it was an issue that he still had the mucous. I'm not overly worried since he doesn't seem sick or bothered by it; but it does seem strange. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any advice? Any thoughts are great. Thanks!

This was one of the symptoms one of my girls had when she was diagnosed with a milk protein allergy.  But if that were the case with your LO I think you'd definitely know by now.  Has he had a cold lately?

He does have a cold right now, but the mucous started before the cold. Also, he cut 4 teeth within about a week (last week). I suppose it could be from this too, but he still has the mucous a week later.

James has FPIES (food protein induced entercolitis) and I have to eat top 8 allergen free to nurse. He has very mucusy stools whenever I ingest an offending protein. An intolerance/allergy can start at anytime.

Our pedi said that sometimes they will have mucus in their stool during a cold because that is the way the body processes mucus since babies are unable to blow their noses to get it out of their systems.  Also, with the excess drool/saliva from teething the stool may look different.
