Cloth Diapering

how do you keep your whites white?(g-diaper w/ gcloth)

Hi everyone

i am in the middle of making the switch from disposable to g-diapers with cloth inserts  i don't use a wet or dry pail method (as of yet) instead after every diaper change i ether rinse&wring the wet cloth inserts or hand wash the soiled cloth inserts hang them to dry then put them in the laundry basket with the rest of our clothes

so far i have avoided stains by washing soiled diapers immediately useing dishsoap and baby shampoo(yes i know this sounds weird)

my question is is their an easier product/ method to keep your whites white? i personally wont be phased by a few stains but i want others i.e. DH and caregivers not to be skeeved out

  • First, definitely switch to a dry pail. You're doing WAY more work than you need to.

I usually throw a couple scoops of OxoBrite (like OxiClean, but earth friendly) and that tends to do the trick.

Organic cotton (I don't believe Gs are) tend to be more stubborn about holding on to stains. As long as it's just the inners, it doesn't bother me.

  • eh it's what i would do if i got menstrual blood on my panties to keep them unstained
  • I think some people spray Bac-Out on their poopy diapers.

  • I agree, you're doing way too much work.

I throw dirty gdipes in a wet bag with my other CDs, and wash them all together with RnG every other day. The top of gcloth is microfleece, so they'll wash well. We have no staining in ours.
