Two Under 2

When #2 moves up to a convertible carseat

What do you do in stores like Target?  DS is .5" under the height limit for his infant seat so I just ordered his convertible.  I'm sad though, it's super easy to have him in the baby seat in the big part of a cart, and put DD in the sit up part of the cart (is there even a word for that?!)  The only place I've seen double wides (two children can sit in the sit up part of the cart) is at the grocery store.

DD is still small and I'm not super comfortable with having her walk with me while holding my hand, but is this what I have to do now?

  • I wore the baby as long as possible so #1 could continue to use the shopping cart seats.

Is that an option for you?

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

This is probably what we will do, but I had not given it much thought until now. I used to wear DS all the time until I got "big pregnant" so I imagine I'll do the same again with DD (or I can still wear DS if I want to).

  • Our Target has attachements on some of the carriages so you can have two kids in the seat. But for some reason my younger one doesnt like sitting there. My older one is fine to walk now, but when he was younger I would put my little one in the top of the cart and my older one in the back of the cart.
  • I wear DS and let DD ride in the cart, or if I have DH with me one of us pushes the stroller and one pushes the cart

  • By height limit, do you mean the overall height guideline in the manual? If so, RF seats are not outgrown by height until there is less than 1" of hard plastic shell above the top of baby's head. Length bum to crown is what matters w/ car seats, not overall height. Some kids are all torso, others are all leg. You may have more time in the infant seat if the latter is the case for your baby!
