Success after IF

Does your pedi's office. . .

Make you go through everything with the nurse before you see the dr.?  Mine does, and it drive me nuts.  I'm wondering if this is the exception or the norm. . .

At every single appt I spend the first 10 minutes telling the nurse all of my questions and concerns, DS's symptoms, etc. - then do the same dang thing again with the pedi.

It has always irritated me, but I've been trying to learn to deal.

But then!  Today, I was supposed to call and let them know how a treatment prescribed 2 weeks ago was working -- and I had to go through the same thing with the phone nurse!  It was a 16 minute phone call, when all I really wanted to say (and did say several times) was "It isn't working, can I just talk to the dr. about all this??"  No, she had to give the dr. a message first.

She ended up calling back and saying the dr. wants to see us. . . so I have no doubt that we'll go to the appt, rehash everything with another nurse, and then finally see the dr. who hopefully actually remember DS/ his case and will have relevant questions for us (vs. form questions read off a piece of paper or computer screen).

I usually love the phone nurse system as it keeps us from having to make an appt and run in for every little thing/issue/question. . . but my fuse is sooooo past short today (due to exhaustion resulting from the sleep issues mentioned below!) that this experience really just has me spewing some un-ladly-like language about right now Wink

  • Not really. The nurse calls us in and does the vitals and just says, "why are you here?"

I quickly say: high fever, possible ear infection, etc. and leave it at that. She/he jots it down, then enters it into the computer so the doc knows why we are there. I leave all questions and more details for the doctor.

Maybe just be shorter with the conversation?????

  • No - the nurse does their height/weight and that's it.
