Cloth Diapering

New to Board, but not CDing - Actual Clothes Question

We have been going strong with cloth diapers for awhile.  I love them.  However, we are having issues finding clothes that fit.

He is almost 20lbs and over 27 inches long, so he is rather large for a 4.5 month old.  Add in the CDs and he is even bigger.  We were doing okay with clothes for awhile because we just went up in sizes. (He's been in 9-month sleepers for the last month.)  However, he is barely fitting into 6-12 month clothes even without the CDs.   The 12-month sleepers are too lean for his chubby tummy and CD bum.  I feel like the clothes makers assume that most babies have leaned out by 12 months and there is nothing for super chubby, younger babies.

Any recommendations for good brands that fit CD bums and larger babies?

I cannot wait for it to warm up, so I can just put him in a CD and a shirt.

  • Jeans are really the only item we have issues with.  E usually wears baby legs, leggings, or yoga-type pants.

  • DD is 27 inches and 21 pounds and fits comfortably in Carters 6-9 sleepers.

Most other clothes she's in 12 month... I usually buy 12 months now, and roll the arms and legs. She even has a couple of 18 month shirts... the Cherokee one fits pretty small!

I've given up on non-knit pants, most of them are cut too slim for my chunky girl. I can't even get them over her thighs, not to even mention her cloth-diapered butt.

  • I swear by old navy knit pants! That's all dd wore for a long time. They had a wide waist band and the legs were wide. As far as pjs, we used the carters sack sleeper things. She could still roll roll in them, but we didn't have to worry about finding something that would fit over her giant nighttime diaper.

  • My son is 30 lbs. at 10 months, and in 18 month or 2T clothing.  We can't use jeans/khakis unless we buy huge and roll up the bottoms.  Instead, he wears a lot of  stretchy cotton or fleece pants -- Lands End, Old Navy, Carters, Okie Dokie, etc.

  • Hanna Andersson is my favorite by far
  • I was going to say Hanna Andersson too, they have a very roomy fit!
