Methonds of turning off your brain that don't involve alcohol?

I can't come up with any and I don't have a tv. I was watching a show online but you can only watch so many minutes a day and I just hit my limit.

Suggestions? I was looking forward to a nice long convo w/DH on the phone (he is out of town on business) and, due to a major snafu at his conference location he will be helping set up chairs and tables half the night. Sucks when you are the one putting on the conference and the place you hire screws up.

  • I read. Well not nearly as often, but I try. I also get myself lost in Huffington Post's site often.

I just saw your ticker. I remember you from the pg boards. Don't you and your husband own a restaurant in CA? Anyway, congratulations on your little number two!!

  • I bump Wink  Seriously though it gives me a sort of mindless change of pace from my day.  I also read a bit once I jump into bed just to really settle me down.

If you really want to watch TV online you can use Hulu.  There doesn't seem to be any limit on how long you can watch-it's the only way that DH and I watch TV.

This might be a bit odd to mention, but depending on what it does for you you can always spend some "alone time" with your favorite toy if you KWIM.  Usually relaxes me in a hurry! Smile  But I'm a total guy like that-once I have my fun I'm ready for a nap.

  • Reading is definitely a good idea, though you've got to make sure it'll be something you can get really engaged in. It helps if it's something totally unrealistic like Twilight or Harry potter...my favorite is Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series though.

Meditation is a really good thing too. But don't do it unless you can handle getting real close and personal with yourself (obviously).

I also recommend Netflix and Hulu. Netflix has so many great movies and documentaries for you to instantly stream, and Hulu can give you unlimited access to shows you haven't seen in a while.

If it helps, I've been watching Ally Mcbeal and United States of Tara online...both easy to get hooked on. Hope this helps!
