Cloth Diapering

Real dumb, clearly first time mom question...

Do you guys use a wipe each time you change your kids, even if they just peed? In my mind, with a cloth wipe, I could use a single dry one all day for pee, and individual wet ones for poop. Then toss whatever into the bag at the end of the day.

And same goes for applying whatever diaper cream of your choice. Every changing? Or only when they have a rash?

Babies are hard.

Re: Real dumb, clearly first time mom question...

  • Nope only when poopy, and only when she is rashy.
  • No, I wipe DD with a wet, clean cloth wipe each time she is changed no matter if its pee or poop. Diaper rash cream is only used when she has a red bum.

  • only poopy, only rashy

but I do give him a bath every night and wash his boy parts

  • We don't wipe every time.  Only when poopy or rashy.  I try to "air dry" as much as possible!

  • I had the same question as you. I found a series of videos on youtube called cloth diapering 101, she explains about cloth wiping which is what I want to do, because the wetness from disposable wipes because rash is caused my moisture, wipes are wet, cloth wiping allows you to proper clean your baby and dry him after. Another thing, I don't know if you know but, not all rash creams are CD safe, only certain ones, she goes over that on thos videos. Hope that helped.
  • not for pee -- often i just use a dry corner of the wet diaper. one of the benefits of cloth.
