Ethan will be almost 5 and he still cannot sleep without lambchop and blue baby. Most of his friends bring lovey's to sleepovers I've noticed. It breaks my heart to think about him not wanting them any more. He also has my brother's doll from growing up (a boy cabbage patch). My brother slept with him until probably 8? I don't remember. How long do you think they'll stay attached?
Re: If your kid still has a lovey, how old are they?
How did you get them to like the lovey? I was hoping maybe something like this may help DS.
Ben still has to have something - right now it's his pillow pet. But it changes. Whatever he is attached to at that moment. We thought he was going to be stuck to this walmart-quality stuffed dog he go for v-day one year. he carried it every where for a year, the neck had no stuffing left because he squeezed it between him and his elbow that way. Once day he just ditched it. Then he got attached to a stuffed gorilla, then a Build-A-Bear dressed as Buzz, and now the pillow pet.
I think he'll have to have something for several years.....Nat, on the other hand, could care less. She'll occasionally sleep with something, but nothing consistant.
Gabi is super attached to a blanket that was crocheted for her - that is adorable to me.
I don't think you get them to like a lovey. They either do or they don't. E's had lambchop since 6 months, attached at the hip, and blue baby since 2.5. He's had a lot of other babies and stuffed animals, but these are what he chose. He also had a blanket that we left at the ER--he never loved another one.
My girls have had lovies come and go, but not at an early age, and they're easily replaceable. Ethan's so hardcore that I bought a second lambchop and he knew what was up. I couldn't fool him.
Me with my littlest.
I still have my lovey and I am 38, but I am not allowed to take it out of the closet. It scares DH. It is a girl doll named Robert.
DD is 4.5 and still has hers. I am so glad I bought 6 of them because it still looks decent. I have written a couple of books about it and DD using pictures I have of the two of them together. DD loves them.
The main ones are his stuffed Meerkat, KatKat and the mouse, Anatole. And the Pillow Pet.
He still has a rail on his bed, not to keep him from falling out, but to keep the 243 animals from doing the same.

You just keep giving it to them. I started giving Charlotte a blanket to hold while she was nursing so she wasn't pulling my shirt all over the place or grabbing at my breasts. Now you give her that blanket and her pacifier, and she'll go right to sleep for naps (okay, just sometimes, but that's better than nothing).
Annalise is 4 1/2 and still has her blankie. It's a disaster if we try to even go somewhere in the car without it.
