Success after IF

If you have a blog and post a lot of pictures

What kind of camera do you use?  I have a huge digital camera which I love but it's far too big to take with me for everyday photography and my iphone camera takes crappy pics.

Also, what is the best way to streamline uploading and adding the pics?  This seems so putzy to me and it makes me less likely to post pics.

Thanks.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

Re: If you have a blog and post a lot of pictures

  • Well, i just got a Nikon D3100 digital SLR, but it's def a big camera. I also have a Cnanon Powershot for my point & click cam & love it. They both take great pics, but obviously the SLR is a better quality than my Cannon. I put all my pics on photobucket, then upload them to my blog - saves space. It's definitely a cumbersome task though (getting the pics off the cam & onto my comp), so I kwum. Does your CPU have the option of putting the memory card straight into the computer? With both of my cams, you have to use a USB, so it's a bit time consuming. Hmm

  • DH takes our "nice" pics with his big ol SLR...I think its a canon..sorry, i don't know more...  we narrow them down, he does a little editing and posts some to his photoblog or flickr feed...i steal them from there and put them in my blog...but the majority of the photos in my blog come from my iphone...i just upload them with my blogger app.  If you want to see what my mix ends up being, you can take a peek into my book post below.  The iphone pics aren't great (although they aren't bad at all if there is good light!) but at least I am capturing moments!  And I'm like you..if they all had to be downloaded via usb, I wouldn't post many...I wonder if any cameras have wireless uploading to shutterfly or some site yet?

  • I just shrink my photos before putting them on my blog so they are much quicker to load. I just batch resize them in photoshop, takes a minute.

What kind of camera do you use that you can't use everyday?  My cam and lens are like 6+ lbs and I bring it in my diaper bag :)

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • For everyday stuff I just use a Canon Powershot little camera. It does video & stills, so it's a 2-in-1 and makes me happy.

For more special events, or at home, I use my digital SLR.

In terms of blog pics, I upload everything to Flickr, and then reference the image there onto my blog. It's great. Flickr automatically resizes pics in several different dimensions, so I always have a non-pixelated one to choose from.

  • Thanks ladies!
