Just a MIL Vent ~ Anyone Else?

Just need to vent!  My MIL isn't horrible but I do think she is manipulative and does a lot of "acting" nice.  For the most part I just bite my tonuge for DH's sake.

Anyway, lately she has been driving me nuts when it come so DD.  Last weekend we were at a family b-day party and she was holding/hogging DD.  She comes up to me w/ DD crying and says I think she needs her diaper changed.  So she takes the diaper bag and goes w/ DH to change the diaper.  When she comes back she says "Yep, I know her best..her diaper was dirty, good thing I'm here to take care of her." 

WOW, how impressive you were holding my daughter and could tell she needed a diaper change!!  That is pretty talented considering DD's farts/poops could probably register pretty high on the richtor scale.

I ask to take DD and she says she wants to go show her to so and so.  2 min later she comes rushing back to tell me that she's sorry (yes she actually said "sorry") but her one co-worker thinks that DD's eyes look like her's, not mine.  Again, how wonderful!  Someone who has never met me thinks that your grandaughter looks like you.  BTW, DD looks nothing like MIL and if she did that day it was only b/c she was tired and had bags under her eyes. 

I won't continue w/ each detail but this type of thing went on pretty much all day.  I finally just took DD and avoided MIL as much as possible.  She wanted us to stop by her place after but DD was really tired and cranky so I said we had to go home and get her to bed.  MIL was all offended and called DH when we got home to find out why she couldn't spend time w/ her grandaughter!  UGH!!!!!

I would never not let MIL spend time w/ DD but after a whole day w/ her I wanted to tell her to take hike!

Vent Over!  Just needed to get that out....we have to see MIL tonight....patience, patience, patience

Yep, I'm with you!  I finally made my hubby tell her to back off before I had to tell her myself.  She still says and does things similar to your MIL, but not nearly as bad as before.

My MIL is a nutcase too. She is very passive agressive and manipulative.

Does she not realize how insulting she's being?!  It would make me crazy!  Sounds like you handle her pretty well all things considered

My ILs are coming to visit next week (they live in Texas, we're in Wa.) and I'm not looking fwd to it!!

GL tonight with your inlaws. It also sounds like your MIL is really excited to have a Grand Daughter, I would just take it in stride and remember you are her mother and she will always love you more!!!!
