Baby Showers

AW: Thank Yous

I had my first shower this past weekend and I have my second one this coming weekend (both out of town events in different cities).  The first one was awesome and super laid back since it was my college friends.  This next one is a lot of my mom's friends back in my home town.

I just wanted to come brag on myself for getting all of my thank you notes in the mail today from my first shower (including 4 things that arrived in the mail this week) so that I have a clean slate heading into my next shower!

Don't let those thank you notes get away from you ladies - remember, it will be easier to do them now than to wait and have to try to write them between feedings! :)

Re: AW: Thank Yous

  • That's awesome!

I am a thank-you nazi.  People who don't send thank-you's are much less likely to receive a gift from me in the future.  I have a cousin who has 3 kids, have not received a thank you for any of the gifts for them (and I threw the shower for baby #1).  They will NOT be receiving a gift from me if there is baby #4.

I contributed $80 for a group gift + bought a personal present for a couple in our church group (who I only met a handful of times prior to the shower).  It still gets on my nerves that I didn't receive a thank you.  (and trust me, $80 is a huge sum for our budget)

  • I'm the same way!  Unfortunately I have yet to convince my DH that we should stop giving his parents gifts since they NEVER write thank you notes (not even an email, which would be tacky but better than nothing) and we often find gifts we've given to them still in their original packaging, stuffed in a corner of their house.

I fussed at my own mother because she sent e-thank you notes for Christmas - that is not ok by me!

  • I completely agree with getting the thank you notes out of the way.  It is such a relief after getting them done.  I know for a fact that my own friends and family take offense if they either don't flat out receive one OR receive a thank you in an untimely manner.  Great reminder!

  • My shower was on Sunday, and all my thank you notes went out at the beg. of the week...I also have bed rest to thank for that :) But it feels good to have gotten them out so quickly!
  • Wooooo-hoooo!  Way to go!

  • Good job!  My shower isn't for another month, but I already have a design so I can start making my hand-made thank you cards.  I, too, hate when people don't send a thank you...it's rude!

That's so generous of you! I'd be peeved!

  • i hope to be on top of it all. i have 4 showers with in a week of each other! but DH can write the thank yous out for one of them i decided :)

i always try to get thank yous out within a week of an event though so hopefully we can just get them done next day from each shower!!
