F/U to rash issues - need advice

DS has a rash between his belly button and winkie.  He's been in a disposable w/Desitin since Tuesday night.  The rash looked much better last night.  After his bath, I put some Aveeno lotion on the area b/c it was extremely dry from the Desitin and put him back in a disposable.  When I got up to change him in the middle of the night, he was bright red again.  This morning, the redness had gone down, but he still has little red bumps (it kinda looks like heat rash) in a line under his belly button.  I EBF and went on a round of antibiotics last week, so I'm wondering if this might be yeast rash, but I don't know what that looks like.  Can someone describe it to me?  He has no rash whatsoever on his bottom, just the front.

And if it is yeast rash, what's the best way to treat the cloth diapers before putting him back in those?

  • Considering that you've been on antibiotics, sounds like yeast.  You can call your pedi or use Lotrimin.   To treat the diapers, you can use 1/4c bleach.  Then rinse, rinse, rinse!
  • Loading the player...
  • You can also put Grapefruit Seed Extract in your wash to help combat the yeast. That's what we are doing now since we can't use disposables and he keeps reinfecting his diapers.  I'm not sure how much to use exactly, but I've been putting 40 or so drops in the rinse cycle.
