Rice cereal = loose stools??

We started rice cereal with the LO's last weekend, and every single day since, they have both had diaper blow outs with loose, runny stools.  I was especially surprised with DS, b/c his are usually so thick, like peanut butter.  The only thing that has changed is adding the rice cereal....but I've read this usually has the opposite effect & causes constipation.  Anyone elses LO's experience this w/ rice cereal?  We're using Gerber, if it makes a difference.
