Anyone watching the stuff going on in Egypt??

It's crazy whats going on there...I have only gotten bits and pieces. It seems like it was a peaceful demonstrations at one point and now seems like it has gotten out of controll..

I am afraid it's going to spread to Israel and will drive up the oil prices even more. They are saying 5$ for gas by the summer..Yikes!

Along with the huge winter storm it's really crazy. They are are saying that there is a traffic jam of planes in Fort Lauderdale airport!

  • I'm so frustrated by the turn for the worse, and it makes me so worried.  Add to that the stuff in Australia.  Ugh.

  • I grew up in Egypt so yes, I am very much watching what's happening.  I am not at all surprised it's gotten out of control.  I think it's premature to say it's going to affect Israel, but we should all be prepared that this is eventually going to happen across all of the middle East.  Most all of these countries are ruled by aged dictators with populations that are mostly under 35.  We should be prepared that gas prices will go up regardless as well.

  • I have been watching it. A lady I work with, her nephew has been studying abroad in Egypt this year. THey have been trying to get him out since this all started but he hasn't been able to yet. I think it is a good thing that the "president" for the last 30 years has agreed not to run for office again.

  • I generally think rising prices are a good thing, though I know I'm in the minority there.  It makes people actually consider the cost of their driving/energy use choices when it hits the pocket. We pay ridiculously low prices for oil in the US.

Egypt I find both thrilling and terrifying.  So exciting to watch an organic democratic uprising, but that always brings fear of where it might end up as well.  I wish them the best. It could radically change the Middle East, but I could see it go in a lot of directions.
