Hitting!!!!

Sorry if this is posted often, but I don't get to hang here much.  Or maybe its not posted much and my DS is the only lil devil

So he is hitting, grabbing, pinching our faces a lot lately.  Can't seem to figure out a trigger, and it certainly isn't b/c of something we're doing to him.  FOr example today I pick him up from Grandma's - he runs into my arms all happy, big hug and 10 seconds later he is smacking my face. 

Our response has been to put him down immediatly and direct our attention elsewhere, but it doesn't seem to make a difference, maybe even make it worse.

Our DD does the same thing.  I just take her hand and slowly rub it on my face while I say, "Gentle."  This usually works, but sometimes she just laughs and winds up to hit me again.  I'm hoping this is just a phase.  She gave me a fat lip once because she was playing with my iPhone and then hit me in the face with it.  Ouch!

just keep at it!  He will get it eventually.  It took Emerson a good month before she stopped.

Our LO was doing the same thing.  We did what you said and it took a few weeks but then he stopped.

Read 1-2-3 Magic and after we applied the technique it took 3 days to stop. I really like the book and method.
