I have been thinking and thinking...I feel like there is a missing piece to my puzzle. It is so strange that with 3 IVFs I have never had anything to freeze. There is always b/w 17-23 eggs retreived, at least 60% are mature and almost all of them fertilize every time. Do you think there is something I should ask RE to test me for? I am going to do another IUI or two again, but I have a feeling that IVF is in my future, and I want to be ready if this is the case. Any tips or ideas would be great.
Re: Need Ideas re: never having embies to freeze
If you do a fresh cycle that works you don't need to worry about have any frozen. From my 2 ivf's I only had 1 each time. I think they try to make it so there is a minimal ammount. It's no fun deciding what to do with embies if you are finished having children. It wouldn't hurt to ask the RE what they thought though about not ever having any to freeze.
Yeah, it was fine the first time b/c we got PG with Nico and everything was fine. However now we have been through 2 additional fresh cycles and an IUI TTC for #2. I keep thinking, it we had only had frozen embies then we would have some more chances since we are OOP. (((SIGH))) I have mentioned it to RE before and he just says it is a coincidence, but that is hard for me to believe.
After 21 cycles, and severe MFI, we finally did it with IVF #1 w/ICSI! Nico arrived 12/3/08!!!
TTC for #2: IVF w/ICSI #2-4/17/10-BFN; IVF w/ICSI #3; 7/4/10-BFP!!! Beta #1- 96; Beta #2-528; Beta #3- 7371; 6w,5d-blited ovum=D&C
IUI #2 1/10/11-BFN; IUI #3 2/18/11-BFN
IVF #4 w/ICSI & PICSI ER 5/13/11, ET 5/1/118-BFP!! Natalee arrived on 1/23/12!!!!

I had always heard that only 30% of people have something left good enough to freeze. So, I don't think it is that unual (unfortunate though - I totally understand about being about to do a FET in lieu of another fresh cycle.)
Some REs are also a lot more particular about what they freeze, so maybe that has something to do with it too. I don't really know what they could test for either.
Good luck - hope this next cycle is successful and you don't have to worry about it!
I had many many embies die with nothing to freeze after 4 IVFs. It was just so statistically improbable without an explanation, which I wasn't getting. I changed doctors, nobody caught on until the 4th RE I saw said I am probably PCOS and he put me on metformin. Low and behold, I both got pregnant on IVF #5 (and think I actually got pg and had chemical naturally in between) and have 2 more blasts frozen.
Lots of luck, it's so frustrating when everything looks good and then turns out poorly. Hang in there!
