DD's left foot points outward.....

So it was just brought to my attention the other day by my mother that DD's left foot goes out when she walks.  She doesn't walk on her own yet, but will walk all over holding onto your hand and/or furniture.  I can't believe I never noticed it before!!!  But now that my mom pointed it out to me it is so very noticable!  Is this something I should be concerned about and call the pedi?  Any other LOs have this?  TIA!

  • Tucker's does too and my pedi said at his 12 month appointment that it is fairly common and will probably fix itself by age 2. His is already pretty much unnoticeable.

  • I'm a podiatrist and this is pretty common with infants; kids will go through phases of being knocked-knee'd or bow-legged and you may notice that their feet point in or out.  If it continues once LO starts walking (and it's still just that one side), I'd recommend a pediatric podiatrist to check her feet and a orthopedic doc to check her knees and hips.
