Would it be good for a 2.5 yr old or is it really for older kids? DD liked the Childrens' Museum at Union Terminal; is it comparable to that but just a lot bigger?
We did a wkend trip there when DS was 20 mos old and paired it up the next day at the Indy zoo. The zoo is free if you park you park on the street.
I haven't been to the museum in Cincy, but we liked the one up in Indy. It was pretty big and had a nice size toddler area, a carousel and lots of other things. We spent about half the day there.
I was impressed by Indy and how much there was to do there.
We took DD this past summer when she was just shy of two years old. They have an area for toddlers (I believe on the third floor.) We got there as soon as it opened in the morning and DD played for almost 3 hours. She fell asleep in the stroller so DH and I walked the rest of the museum while she slept. There were other areas that DD might have enjoyed but she was exhausted :-)
The area for the toddlers is very much like the museum at Union Terminal (water table area, kitchen, garden area, building/construction area). The rest of the museum is divided into different exhibits. When we were there, there was a Barbie exhibit and one about cars and rock and roll. Lots of things on the walls to read, but also lots of hands-on things to do/play with.
In our experience, DD loved it then and I think she would love it even more now that she is 2.5. HTH!
ETA: We also went to the Indianapolis Zoo and Conner's Prairie while we were there (4 days). Both of those were a lot of fun too!

This happened when we took DD too! She was just over a year old and had a really great time. I think she would have even more fun now that she's a little bigger so we'll be going back soon!!
