I'll be setting up two changing stations, one upstairs and one down. How many wipes will I need? What fabric is best? What size? Any good patterns out there? Thanks!
I pretty much just spent the last hour researching all of this for myself. I found that 8x8 is a good size, it folds in half to fit into a wipe case for easy storage. You can also go with 4x8 and just not fold them. I decided on cotton flannel. It seems to be the most durable but yet delicate. Don't use pure fleece because it doesn't wipe poop very well.
As for patterns or how to make them. Just go to youtube and type in "how to make cloth wipes" and they will show you how to do it with a sewing machine or without
I am going with 36 wipes. I figured this will give me enough for washes, travel, and my changing station. IMO you really can't have too many. They also work as wash cloths and can be used as oops wipes in the car for messy hands and faces.

I have no idea how many we have but I'll say the ones I made that are the size of a baby washcloth = perfect.
and that the texture of the baby washcloth backed w/ flannel = best, IMO. (the flannel gives it more structure, it's cheap (and, seriously, they're poo wipes, they should be cheap), and the washcloth side = grabby (and flannel = soft)
I made around 36 at first and then made more that were smaller for travel size wipes. I used flannel on one side and my husband's old cotton undershirts on the other.
I just cut them into squares around 8 by 8 and zig zagged around the edges. Done.
I'm going to make more this time around and might just do all flannel because I'm being lazy about cutting up the undershirts.
I also made a smaller batch that I keep in the kitchen pantry for hands/face wiping only. They are different patterns/colors/size so that we know what's what.

This is what we do.
