Job

So for the most part, I love my job. I work as a NICU/Postpartum RN. I love being able to take care of the small/sick babies and being able to take care of the new moms and healthy babies. But I have to admit, I sometimes get that little twinge of jealousy. I don't let it bother me or effect the way I take care of patients. I just wanted to get that off my chest. If you feel the need to flame, please do somewhere else.

Kudos to NICU nurses! I don't know how you do it, I'm an x-ray tech and I have to take pics of the NICU babies and it's so hard for me, I get so emotional seeing all the sick LOs! You gals are amazing!!

Thanks ladies. I wouldn't trade working with the LOs for anything. Its hard sometimes. We get attached and then they go home. (sometimes they shouldn't go home with the parents but thats a completely different can of worms). I fortunately work in a level 2 NICU so we don't have the really sick babies that could pass away. Im not sure how I would deal with that. Hopefully I never have to deal with the passing of babies.

I am an OB nurse and I totally get what you are saying!! It is really hard but I sometimes just hold the little one if I have a moment and it makes me feel better!  They are just soo precious!! I had a 20 weeker deliver saturday night and the baby obviously was too early to make it.. I had to weigh the baby and do measurements.  It was sooo sad!  Some things in life I will never get!! Kudos to you being an NICU nurse.  We are a smaller hospital soo we usually send our babies to a NICU at another hospital because we dont have one.  Keep your chin up girlie
